At various times, Mitt Romney has appeared to stake out both sides of Second Amendment issues.
And then there's this taped message to an NRA gathering from 2007:

The big problem with a candidate who changes positions is you really don't know what you're getting. Do you go by what he says now? How much to you weigh on what he said previously, and did while holding a previous office?
And what are our protections he won't change his mind again?
