Welcome government workers

I've had some interesting visitors to this blog recently.

It appears the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the President have stopped by a couple of times each in the past 30 days.

The visits followed others earlier in the year by the ATF and the Department of Justice.

So, what gives?

Are these random visits by bored government workers? Is our government bureaucracy now so big that multiple agencies monitor the blogosphere - including little indy upstarts like mine? Are these hits from a live human, or merely directed my way by some sort of search bot?

I've seen references to government visits on other websites. I've also swapped stories with conservative and  libertarian bloggers who've mentioned they too have had government visitors, but opted not to disclose 'em publicly. These visits can be a little spooky the first couple of times they happen.

If the government wanted to quietly see what I was up to, it could easily use a blimd IP address that doesn't scream federal government.

Makes me wonder. What are the chances these hits are intended to be a mild form of intimidation - either by  design or by individuals who have too much time on their hands?

Then again, maybe I've got some fans buried deep in the bowels of the federal bureaucracy.

If you care to discuss the possibilities, Don and I will kick it around on the January 5th Don and Doug show on TalkSouthRadio.com. Well be live from 1:00 to 3:00 pm EST this Thursday. The live call in number is 678-344-9926.
