Extend and pretend

No longer driven by sound economic fundamentals, the stock market is more like a junkie seeking out a cheap fix. For reasons explainable, the market forces now seem to think running up more debt is the solution to America's national debt problem.

The report contends a temporary extension of the debt ceiling would defuse the immediate crisis, give hope the global economy continues to mend.

Sounds to me like someone's smokin' financial crack.

More likely, such a deal just takes us a few months farther down the path to destruction. Just another excuse not to do anything that's actually constructive.

Even if traveled month by month, inch by inch, we're still on the highway to hell.
