Market Demand chart Full size in source article |
The circumstances reported beg some questions: With so many buyers buying now, how bad of a slump might the industry see once/if the current crisis passes?
How many independent gun stores will be forced to cut employees, hours or perhaps even close if demand significantly slacks, or they can't get sufficient inventory to be sustainable for the immediate or long term future?
If supply remains unstable, will big box stores continue to offer as broad a line of firearms? Major retailers prize consistencies in inventories. They hate empty racks or showcases. I was in a store the other day that appeared to have placed more accessory merchandise in cases that once held handguns. I suspect this was done to lessen the "sold out" look.
