Gunning up in America

CNS News reports over 70.2 million firearms background checks have been conducted since Obama took office.

Compare the current civilian hunger for firearms to some of the small arms production numbers of World War II, a time when production of most consumer goods ceased so industry could focus almost exclusively on war needs.

During the course of World War II, American factories churned out about 4 million M-1 Garands, the main battle rifle of that era, and another 6.5 million M-1 Carbines were made. During wartime production, Colt turned out approximately 629,000 Model 1911A1 pistols.
