Did something over the weekend I really wanted to do since I was a kid, but never got around to it.
I took and passed the entry level test for an amateur radio license.
Morse code proficiency is no longer required. I was able to brush up on my basic radio knowledge and pick up what else I needed to know with just a few hours of study last week.
For those interested in amateur radio but have never taken the plunge, I highly recommend the Technician Class study guide available at KB6NU's Ham Radio Blog. I used the free PDF version, but followed up with a PayPal donation to the site after passing the test.
