Social conservatives who oppose gay marriage or abortion, or who believe in a Second Amendment favoring the citizenry are no longer welcome in New York.
So says the Governor Andrew Cuomo, as reported in the Buffalo News:
“If they are extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York,” Cuomo said in a radio interview Friday.
Cuomo defined “extreme conservatism” as being “anti-gay” by opposing same-sex marriage rights, opposed to abortion rights and favoring legalization of assault weapons. Cuomo officials later said the governor’s remarks were aimed at “extremist” conservative Republican candidates.Apparently in Cuomo's mind, only progressive totalitarians should be allowed to hold office.
At least one Catholic New Yorker feels people of his faith have been especially singled out by the governor's intolerant, collectivist rant.
