Other people's debts

The IRS has a new policy: Seizing people's imcome tax refunds to pay other people's debts.

From the Washington Post:
Across the nation, hundreds of thousands of taxpayers who are expecting refunds this month are instead getting letters like the one Grice got, informing them that because of a debt they never knew about — often a debt incurred by their parents — the government has confiscated their check.
We edge closer and closer to direct confiscation of American citizen assets to satisfy a government that knows it needs new revenue streams to buy time for its ways of excessive spending and debt.

  1. Hey Doug;

    That is the old feudal system, using the debt of the parents to force the child into indentured servitude. That was one of the gripes the founding fathers had with merry old England or the "old Country". I know the colossus is starving for a revenue stream but this is a bit much.
