Obama bans by executive order the importation of some popular Russian firearms.
The order was issued on Wednesday, part of package deal of sanctions against Russian interests and businesses in response to the situation in the Ukraine.
The orders were issued well before Thursday's shoot-down of a Malaysian Airlines passenger jet over the Ukraine.
