Home canning

Are you old enough to remember when government was a big promoter of home canning?

"Mrs. Marinus Hansen, wife of a Box Elder County, Utah, Farm Security Admistration rehabilitation client, proudly surveys part of the home-canned fruits and vegetables she has put up as part of her home management plan. Most of these orchard and garden products were homegrown as well as home-preserved. Mrs. Hansen cans at least five hundred quarts yearly."
