House Speaker John Boehner announces his retirement from Congress. Actual departure date said to be sometime in late October.
Conventional wisdom says it's the looming budget fight and potential for another government shutdown that prompts his departure. But I have to wonder if Mr. Trump doesn't play part here. Boehner's departure would not be such an urgent matter if Trump wasn't crushing establishment candidates in the GOP presidential race.
I'm not necessarily a Trump supporter, but Trump has worked miracles in showing how disenfranchised the Republican voter base has become with the party's established leaders.
